Story

A traveling museum has come to town hosting a variety of exhibits for all to see. There is the Auto show, the Dinosaur bones collection, the Sports memorabilia, and the ones showcasing different talents in Cuisine, Music and Art. Now, Algy, Barmy, Bertie, Biffy, Freddy & Stilton each visited the museum once this week (Monday through Saturday) and gathered Saturday afternoon to discuss their findings over snacks (which included beans, eggs, crumpets, cake, sardines, and chips - strangely, they each had one snack item only). No two fellows visited the same exhibit or ate the exact same snack. Upon arriving to discuss what they had seen all they could talk about was the beautiful tour guides that led each exhibit, (the lovely and talented Audrey, Antoinette, Michelle, Monica, Sally and Sue), and they had completly forgotten about the exhibit that each had visited.

Using the eleven clues below, can you determine on what day, which exhibit, the name of their tour guide and the type of snack each chap consumed?

Clues

  1. No two tour guides with the same initial gave tours on consecutive days.
  2. Barmy, Biffy, & Bertie all chose snacks with different initials (none of these chosen snacks started with "c").
  3. The Sports exhibit came sometime after the Auto exhibit, which took place at least three days before the Art exhibit (to clarify: at least two days in between the Autos and Art).
  4. Biffy (who was vegetarian this week) was fascinated with the Dinosaur bones.
  5. Barmy & Bertie's guides had the same first initial.
  6. Algy (whose first initial was the same as his guide) chose an exhibit and a snack that began with the same letter.
  7. The six gents are as follows: Barmy, the one that visited the Art exhibit (who didn't care for crumpets), the one whom Antoinette showed Sporting memorabilia to, the one who went on Wednesday, and the fellows who snacked on Chips and Sardines.
  8. These exhibits were seen on consecutive days: Dinosaur bones, the one Algy attended, Music, and the one guided by Sally.
  9. Barmy & Freddy visited exhibits with the same initials.
  10. Algy, Stilton & Bertie (who had never met Michelle) were, in some order: the fellow guided by Antoinette, the one who had Chips, and chap who went on Friday.
  11. Michelle, Monica, & Sue were (in some order): the guide to the Auto Show, the one who guided the Bean eater, and the girl who showed the Music exhibit.

Solving Tips

Use an X when you are sure that two fields do not match. Use a dot when you are sure that two fields do match. Click once to place an X. Click a second time to place a dot. Click a third time to clear the box.

Select marker color by clicking the colored radio buttons. You can use colored marks to indicate which clue provided a value, or to indicate a guess that might not be correct, or just because you like solving puzzles in teal.

Use the "Save" button to save a puzzle in progress. Use the "Load" button to reload the puzzle. This feature uses cookies - fear not, we aren't tracking you or stealing credit card numbers (we couldn't, even if we wanted to.) At the moment, only one puzzle may be saved at a time on each computer (unless using different browsers or accounts). There is no warning if you save over another puzzle, and no undo!

Use the "Current Solution Window" button to parse the grid for your solution. This feature simply looks for dots in the top set of rows and creates a list that you can copy and paste into your email for submission.

If you want to clear the grid and start over, just refresh the page. Note that there is a bug in IE6 (and possibly other browsers), so that if a color other than the default is selected, that color may appear to be selected after the reload, but the actual color used will be the default.
